Workshop 2 and i must say it was a relay cool and fun one. Today we learnt about the MQTT which is a service that allows device to connect to a topic on a broker for example a topic could be DAT/206 and then send and receive messages through it. With the photons all on WiFi this means we can send and receives commands , debug reports and sensor readings over the internet, which makes it a really handy tool to have. Chris is allowing us to use the IDAT broker which means we don't have to set one up. Now the IDAT broker is broker.i-dat.org and is running off of port 80 as eduroam uses the other default ports from what i understand.
There are MQTT libraries for python , raspberry pi ardunio and for photons which means we can have all of these device's linked up together. This then starts to create a constellation of networks, as the devices are all linked working together.

MQTT is a protocol built for the internet of things, it allows close to real time messaging over almost any network even unstable ones (hivemq, 2015).It even works on the uni's internet Edouroam and not allot of things do work on that.
hivemq. (2015) New to MQTT. [Online] Available from: http://www.hivemq.com/ [accessed 13 October 2015]
What i learnt:
great resource: for any internet of things product MQTT seams like a fast easy tool to use
Code_ we learnt how to use the code in ardunio although some of it is a bit confusing it dosent seam hard when you brake it down into sections
