For this project im doing some background research on different things that people find relaxing along with ways people relax.
According to a fact sheet on http://au.reachout.com/ways-to-relax that 872 people have said was helpfully listening to music can help relax someone. Now not everyone will find the same music relaxing it depends on the individual. The NHS say that deep muscle relaxation can help you unwind , they recemend that you do it in a warm comfortable environment. They also say that listening to music can help relax and unwind you.
So the idea of using heating pads and vibrations to massage the back muscles is seaming like a good idea to help people feel better and to change there emotion. Although it might not be for everybody.
Nhs also talk about doing breathing exercises to help loosen the muscles and to calm you. Maybe we could put some breathing exercises sound files on the chair which could maybe be played if the ball is squeezed only once ?
"Relaxation can help to relieve the symptoms of stress. It can help you calm down and take a step back from a stressful situation"(NHS, 2013)
A piece on greatist.com says that laying your head on a soft pillow for a few minitues a day can help relax you. They also say "On days when you want to strangle a coworker, your BFF, or the driver in the next lane, squeeze a stress ball instead. It’s an easy, portable, and non-violent way to relieve tension."
The idea of using this chair even just once a day when you get home from work could help keep your stress and anxiety levels down allowing you to enjoy life. Having it in a chair gives the user the nice warm safe environment with there own relaxing music and linking it to a stress ball will help give them, a more accurate relaxation time.
