So we have gone from a bar to the sea side and from pure data to a raspberry pi running pygame through python, the only thing that hasent changed is me and phoebe who are doing the project.
For the sound control now going through the pi, we are using the python library pygame, after looking through its documentation it is possible to change the pitch of a track however it looks exstreamly complex and from what i read online can more more hassle then its worth most people have said just pi make different pitch tracks and pause mute and unmute as needed. As im not sure if my pi is powerful enough to be running allot of tracks at once we are now going to control the volume of both the tracks by the weight and inferred sensors. I did a trail of being able to change the selected track to a different one depending on weight. What i found was that pygame did not like you change the file directory after the code had started running so for now that part has been removed but we would like to put it back in for future development.
So the finale idea now im hoping is to , Build an interactive beach for children with one half being the sea and the other half being the beach area. The sea area will have a cup full of water with a weight sensor underneath and the more water in the cup the louder the sounds of the sea. On the beach side a bucket and spad and on top of the bucket a inferred sensor that works out how much sand is in the bucket and the more sand the louder the sounds of the beach. The piece will be made for two people to play and have fun balancing out the sounds of the seaside.
