Workshop 3 was an interesting one however the bugs and errors did appear today. We learnt the visual programming language Node red which seams very powerful and a way of making are devices intelligent. However it did not want to install on my windows machine, which was an issue as everything we were building i couldn't keep as i ended up on Chris's account on a mac. For anyone that knows me im not a fan of using macs but windows 10 is seaming to be an issue when it comes to the installation process.
Node red runs locally on your machine so you need to have your device on and connected to a network in order to use it. It does have some really useful tools though, like a MQTT input and output section so we can receive message and send messages. Combine that with the power of java script scripts and we can have the brain of our devices all be on node red and make the physical devices themselves stupid sending data through the hive mind of MQTT up to the brain being node red. .
Now we are starting to get a better idea on our project i think between node red and MQTT we can build a system of systems of everyday objects that seamless help makes the users lives better.
Things iv learnt:
Node red: i now have a basic understanding of how to use different nodes in node red and link them to devices.
Windows: i learnt node red and windows 10 = trouble , ill have to ask Simon to see if he knows a work around if not ill run it off my raspberry pi.
